Solution:

 First I painted the white mantel with a brown paint with primer to compliment the wood cabinets.

Then to add some style I purchased 2 tiles and a metal decor to give the mantel timeless style.

After

 Dilemma:

The white mantel stuck out like a sore thumb against the beautiful wood built in cabinets and the stone fireplace.

Quart of Brown Paint from Home Depot for $14. I purchased the paint that has the primer in it so it was a little pricier but gave me the coverage needed.
