It is Summertime... I love the Sunshine and Warm Weather!
Nothing is better when it is hot outside than to enjoy a cold glass of homemade lemonade.
My grandmother use to make homemade lemonade-it was such a treat! I found Rachael Ray's recipe on the Food Network-this recipe is delicious! Like grandma's, but a little bit better... the honey and vanilla give a delicious twist to a great classic recipe. My youngest son has requested and reminded me that I promised to make it:)
Honey Vanilla Lemonade Recipe
Ingredient's:
2 cups Sugar
1/2 cup Honey
2 cups Water
1 Vanilla Bean
2 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice( about 24 lemons-20 0z of juice.)
+1-2 Lemons for lemon wheels for garnish
Directions:
In a large sauce pan, combine sugar, honey, 2 cups water and place over medium-high heat.
Cut the vanilla bean in 1/2 lengthwise then using the back of the knife, scrape the vanilla seeds from the pod and add to the sauce pan along with the pod. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 4-5 minutes, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
Put the lemon juice into a gallon pitcher. Pour the sugar syrup through a strainer into the pitcher and discard the pod. Add water to equal 1 gallon and stir well.
Serve over ice with lemon wedges.
