This is a Family Recipe so decadent, once you have this apple pie no other will measure up-it is that good:)
I love cooking for the Holidays-making the house smell yummy and everyone anticipates when each dish is done-it makes me Happy to make my Family Happy!
There is a reason once one of my husbands employee's came for Thanksgiving he requested to come back every year until we moved-I loved it and he was more than welcome:)
He loved my cooking!
Sour Cream Apple Pie Recipe
Crust: ***use large 10" pie dish
1 3/4 Cups Flour
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Salt
2/3 Cups cold butter
Use fork until crumbly
3 TBSP. Apple Juice
Form into ball refrigerate for 30 minutes
Roll out into pie crust place in dish and form ridges.
Filling:
1/2 Cups sour Cream
1 egg
1 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Flour
2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
6 Large Apples (recommended apples: N. Spy, Ida Red, Red Delicious, Granny Smith)
1 Lemon juiced
Topping:
1/2 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Flour
1/3 Cup sugar
1/3 Cup Brown sugar
1 TBSP. Cinnamon
Pinch of Salt
Combine with fork until crumbly
Add 1 Cup chopped Walnuts
Add topping Bake for 15 minutes
Bake @ 450 for 15 minutes
Reduce to 350 for 35-40 minutes
*test apples
Let cool for at least a half an hour before serving. Perfect with vanilla ice cream on the side.
