Important things to remember when preparing your child to leave for college

Your child is leaving for college soon... you think of all the incidentals like school supplies, bedding and clothes but what about...

  • Car overhaul- make sure it is working properly for the trips back and forth-better to be safe.
My husband found this bag on sale at Harbor Freight for $5 with coupon.
They filled it with tools for the just in case: like jumper cables, flash light, oil, tire gauge, etc.

  • Insurance information-in case the unexpected happens-they know what to do, who to call, etc.

  • Health Insurance-I ordered an extra card and looked for doctors close to the college.

  • Get their Bank account information set-up where you can transfer money to them when they need it.

  • An accordion file to keep their important paperwork like bills, college paperwork, etc. Time to teach them how to be organized:)
  • Calendar  to keep track of when assignments are due, test dates , important events, etc.
House of Doolittle EcoTone Academic Desk Pad Calendar 13in. x 18.5in. Cream/Brown
  • First aid kit-if he gets hurt at least he has a band-aid:)

  • Mending kit-my husband said, "You know he is just going to bring it home to you to mend:)"
Be prepared so when you get the call it is easy and stress-free...or at least easier: I always let my son know I am only a phone call away if he ever needs me.
